What are the Legacy Awards? The Saint Louis Planned Giving Council in partnership with the Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation, initiated the Legacy Awards to recognize the crucial interaction between donor, advisor, and charity necessary in creating a charitable planned gift.
The Saint Louis Planned Giving Council and Greater Saint Louis Community Foundation are pleased to announce the winners of the 2010 Legacy Awards:
Donor: Individual or Family (Living or Deceased) Recognition The Donor Recognition Award is awarded each year to an individual, couple or family who has made a significant impact on St. Louis through their planned gift to a charity. This year's winner is Steven Schankman of St. Louis. Steven is being recognized for his many years of volunteer service and Board leadership for local charitable organizations, including Variety, The Children's Charity, the Saint Louis Zoo, Forest Park, and the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Steven has established significant bequests with several of these organizations.
Non-Profit Organization Recognition The Non-Profit Recognition Award is awarded this year to the Oblate Annuity Trust, a component of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Belleville, Illinois. The Oblate Annuity Trust administers a program that serves over 1,400 current annuitants and maintains an extensive list of members in the Oblate's Good Samaritan Society. This award recognizes the non-profit staff for excellence in their planned giving program, and the Award is intended to inspire best practices in planned giving.
Professional Advisor Recognition Sherri Frank Weintrop at Wealth Management Advisors in St. Louis is the recipient of the 2010 Professional Advisor Legacy Award. Sherri is being recognized for her insight, guidance and counsel related to several key gifts to the Jewish Federation of Saint Louis and other organizations in the St. Louis Jewish community. Ms. Weintrop has served in leadership roles on charitable committees and has an outstanding reputation for putting her client's need first while helping them realize their charitable goals.
